Use: Seasonal Allergies, Joint Inflammation
Nettle leaves contain active compounds that reduce inflammatory cytokines. It has been demonstrated that nettle leaf lowers TNF levels by potently inhibiting the genetic transcription factor that activates TNF a and IL 1B in the synovial tissue that lines the joint.
Additionally, stinging Nettle contains a very high source of digestible iron and other minerals which aid in silica absorption as well as ease digestion.
Suggested Dosage for Springtime Allergies:
Make the strongest tea possible. Pack a large tea infuser with the dried nettle leaves and place in coffee cup or mug. Pour the hot water into the cup and cover. Let the tea steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Steeping it longer will make the tea stronger. Squeeze out the infuser to get the last bit of the infusion. Repeat during the day for maximum relief.
Urtica dioica is generally considered safe. Unwanted side effects may include mild sweating or increased urine flow. Not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
